There Was Man
There was a day when grass bristled,
As caves beneath shook with terror.
Angry oceans slapped their waves
On the hard, racked boulders.
Wandering birds took a hit,
Changed their course in the midst.
Bellies grumbled of creatures eating grass,
Through the rest of the myriad, it passed.
The sun showered more love, more warmth,
Oh, its beautiful fiery array.
This cosmos twitched and bewitched,
A countless number of galaxies at once.
And there was man, there was man—
His ignorance bewitched the cosmos.
